Spotting

Athlete safety is paramount, and coaches should not be restricted from spotting an athlete if necessary, to protect the athlete from injury
While spotting remains an important element to athlete safety, coaches should find alternative teaching/coaching methods that align with social distancing protocols.
Clearly communicate any alternative teaching/coaching methods so they are understood by the athletes and, if necessary, their parents
Coaches should wash their hands immediately after, if spotting is necessary
If an athlete needs a frequent spot on a skill they are struggling on, this should be done in a private lesson with both the coach and athletes in masks with increased attention to hygiene. This is at the discretion of the coach. Certain skills are unsafe to preform in masks and should wait until the CDC declares masks to be unnecessary, such as in the event of an antiviral or vaccine.Students
Must wear mask or facial covering while entering and leaving the building. Once arriving to their initial physically distanced station, the athlete can remove the mask; place it into a plastic bag and place it in their personal gym bag. The mask should be reapplied while using other areas of the facility (ie bathroom). Athletes may practice in masks or facial coverings if they choose. This is a personal decision of the athlete and their family.
Athletes are to wash or sanitize hands after each rotation.
Drinking fountains are closed. Students must have their own water bottles. They are NOT to share with anyone.
Wash hands & feet before & after each practice at home.
Athletes should be made aware of the gym’s new safety protocols and the athlete’s role in maintaining safety guidelines for themselves and others.
Encourage athletes/students to keep 6-foot distance from teammates/coaches (when feasible), using hand sanitizer, wash hands frequently, not to share water bottles or other personal items; tell coaches immediately when they are not feeling well
Athletes are to arrive and leave the gym dressed for practice. There will be no changing at the gym.
